The Original Tea Party…No, Not The Boston One!
I have watched these past few weeks with great interest the TV series, “The Tudors.” This TV show, which aired via Showtime and now there are DVD seasons for sale (NSFW OR CHILDREN!), the story of King Henry VIII. It turns now, that I started watching Season 3 (episode 1), the particular rebellion against the King and the reformation of the Church; under his reign, monasteries, churches, were taken down, crosses because King Henry VIII was, after all, “the Head of the Church in England.”
Of course, good Englishmen did not like to be forced to relinquish their beliefs, their core values, their religion and were taxed for every thing they possessed. Sounds familiar? So, these folks saw the destruction of all that they believed in, what was established and taken apart with their own eyes. They were disgusted, angry and wanted justice. They wanted to keep more of their earnings, and not be taxed for all the hard work they do, and live poorly. Sounds familiar?
So, what did they do? They met, secretly, inside a building. They were angry, protested and blamed Thomas Cromwell for all their sufferings. They rallied with torches and pitchforks, they seeked a leader with the ability and wisdom to help them get their Church back, taxes cut, and convince the King that he needed to listen to his people (sadly for them, it did not happen).
As I watched this episode of the TV show “The Tudors”, I was fascinated at how close they portrayed what is going on right now with the Tea Party movement. Michelle Malkin’s speech here and Freedom Works have been an inspiration to us all! We have all seen, filmed and taken videos of all the town hall meetings, all protests all over the country (too many to link here), and yes, the MORE THAN ONE MILLION Tea Party march to Washington, DC.
It all started in smaller venues, with fewer voices. Now there are multiple websites, organizers all over the country that still watch and have their voices heard. I do have a faith that we will be successful this time.
Our living conditions are not the same as in those times. As Abraham Lincoln quoted, “That some should be rich, and, hence, is just encouragement to industry and enterprise.” Our capitalist system is under threat, liberty, freedom and dare I say it, sovereignty!
Why? Because we have a subservient as world leader! Despite what polls say, the Obama administration is sinking us deeper into debt, present and future and have not respected neither the elders or the children. We demand to know, where’s all the money? Where’s all the dollars that have been printed? Why worsen and not improve our healthcare system?
If you stopped here and don’t know about the Tea Party Movement, visit Tea Party Patriots. You will find your state, and read on. Google “Tea Party 2009″ and if you feel like something is wrong, you feel powerless and there’s no justice for hard working Americans like you and me…join us.
We are not violent; we simply demand justice for all.
